چکیده

A cold seep is one of the typical deep-sea chemical energy ecosystems and a hotspot for studying unique life processes biogeochemical cycles in deep sea. Macrofauna, which most important components ecosystem, has not been thoroughly studied. We examined macrofauna community at Site F using images collected 2016 by an imaging laser profiling system biological samples 2020 2021 TV grab remotely operated vehicle. In total, 41 species were found. The overall number identified (20,000 m 2 ) reached 252,943 individuals, biomass 726.15 kg dry weight. As dominant species, Gigantidas platifrons Shinkaia crosnieri their highest densities 629 396 individuals/m , respectively. comparisons between different stations revealed that diversity density, even much higher south than north 2020. Correlation analysis showed methane had positive effect on density. Compared with S. G. seems to be more adapted harsh environment. Methane consumption rates show are influencing seafloor fluxes. Our findings provide valuable insights into ecology, structure, biota-environment interaction F.

Meiofauna and macrofauna community structure in relation with environmental factors at South of Caspian Sea

Biodiversity and distribution of benthic Meiobenthos in the sediments of the Southern Caspian Sea) Mazandaran) was studied in order to introduce and determine their relationship with the environmental factors. From 12 stations (ranging in depths 5, 10, 20 and 50 meters), sediment samples were gathered in four seasons (2012). Environmental factors of water near the bottom including temperature, ...

Microbial community changes along the active seepage site of one cold seep in the Red Sea

The active seepage of the marine cold seeps could be a critical process for the exchange of energy between the submerged geosphere and the sea floor environment through organic-rich fluids, potentially even affecting surrounding microbial habitats. However, few studies have investigated the associated microbial community changes. In the present study, 16S rRNA genes were pyrosequenced to deciph...

Galatheid and chirostylid crustaceans (Decapoda: Anomura) from a cold seep environment in the northeastern South China Sea.

Six species of squat lobsters from a cold seep field in the northeastern South China Sea are studied. Two new species, Uroptychus jiaolongae n. sp. and U. spinulosus n. sp., are described, and their distinctions from the related species are detailed. Two species, Munidopsis tuberosa Osawa, Lin & Chan, 2008 and M. verrilli Benedict, 1902, are herein reported for the first time from a cold seep/h...
